Last updated on October 9, 2026
A tracking plan lists the events your site must send, with their properties and rules. Audits compare your real data with it.
Generate it
- 1
Open "Tracking plans" and click "Generate tracking plan".
- 2
"General information": name, language, and your tag management system ID if you have one.
- 3
"Select a template": "Create from scratch".
- 4
"Customize/Verify your events and properties": pick events from your project, your workspace or the Tag Insight model events.
- 5
Click "Next" to create the plan.
Edit it
Click "Edit" on a plan to open its mapping. The "Events" tab lists every event with its label, description, trigger, page type and priority. The "Properties" tab shows the properties as a tree.
Use "Add event" to add an event, "Columns" to show, hide or reorder columns, and "Check code" to get the dataLayer code to give your developers. Click "Save" to keep your changes.
Manage your plans
From the list you can rename, archive, restore or delete a plan, and sort the list. Archived plans stay available in the "Archived" tab.
a plan is read-only ("View") when its identification keys are no longer active in the project, or when you are a viewer.
